FAQ

What are the system requirements for Zipic?

Zipic is currently available for macOS. Version 1.8 and later require macOS 13.0 or higher, while earlier versions support macOS 12.0 or higher. A Windows version is in development, targeting support for Windows 10 and later.

What is the compression level?

The compression level indicates the strength of file compression. Higher levels result in greater compression but lower image quality. A level between 1 and 3 is recommended for balancing quality and compression ratio. You can increase the level if higher compression is needed.

Does Zipic support command line usage?

Command line tools are not yet available. However, you can refer to the Integrating Zipic Capabilities guide to use Zipic for image compression via URL Scheme in the terminal.

What formats does Zipic support?

Zipic supports batch compression of JPEG, PNG (including APNG), WebP, GIF, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, TIFF, ICNS, SVG, PDF, and JPEG-XL (JXL) formats, as well as batch conversion to JPEG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, and JPEG-XL (JXL) formats.

Is Zipic free?

Zipic offers a free version with a limit of 25 compressions per day and no access to advanced features. To unlock the limits and access premium features, you can purchase a Pro license.

How does Smart Skip work?

Zipic automatically recognizes files that have already been compressed and skips them to avoid redundant processing. If you change your compression settings or the source file is modified, Zipic will automatically re-compress the file. This feature works across all compression methods.

What does PDF compression require?

PDF compression uses the Ghostscript engine for optimal results with font and content stream optimization. Ghostscript needs to be installed as a dependency — you can manage this in Settings -> Dependency. Encrypted PDFs are automatically detected with a friendly prompt.

How do I get debug logs for troubleshooting?

Zipic includes a Debug Mode for exporting runtime logs. To activate it, go to the License view in Settings and tap the app icon 5 times. Once activated, you can export logs to help diagnose issues. See Troubleshooting for details.
